Oh really. What have you found wrong with them? Our shop has sold plenty into logging crews with minimal issues. One guy who is particularly hard on gear initially didn’t like his because of starting issues. Once we convinced him they don’t like drop starting he’s been happy as a pig in mud. Had a couple with dicky injection modules but easy fixed. Same engine on concrete saws have been pretty bullet proof although nothing likes being straight fueled. Surprising how often that happens.

    You misunderstood what I meant.
Once you use one you will be buying one Monday morning.
Yes they are a fantastic saw!
I just sold my 880 and putting that loot to a 700i when they come out.
It will be a fearsome bit of kit!

Drop starting!!!!! Stone the crows, that's been a stackable offence since forever. Every Stihl I've ever handled the start sequence is the same..all be it with decompression switch for bigger saws. Trigger in switch right to bottom, pull till fires, bring switch up one notch, decomp again, pull and she roars into life, click trigger to bring revs back to idel. I start saw from standing position. Handle tucked into crutch tightly, left hand on front, top handle....done this way for fourty years without issue. Ergo start threw me for a bit...but it's the same just no need to put any effort into pull.... brilliant system.

Alright system until some hamfisted person, or anyone not familiar with system, pull starts like a normal saw/weed-eater. Ends badly and requires injection of dollars. We get at about one unit/month that's been rooted.

I saw an old film reel from early 70s,fella wearing stubbies...Masport lawn mower had similar system. I guess it was like perfect mouse trap...didn't take off as blokes used real traps.... These days the shielahs do pretty much all the tasks that were once blokes only...that start system on mower might work in this day n age...but battery powered mowers are taking off now too and will do suburban hanky sized lawn with ease.

Just fitted double dogs on both the 026&029... Look the part very much, may have to shorten the outside on 026 by a few mm,will try as it is and see... Bought of trademe for bugger all, arrived with bolts included two days later happy days.
