Gun city had an interview on Facebook with Mike Mcllraith about the record of ammo sales, sound like in 3 years time we will have a similar system to the UK

Quite correct, sometimes up to 500 in a week for NRA competitors.

    Hilarious.

Looking forward to reading of the upcoming caliber restrictions too.

FSA " Why do you need a 6.5 when you have a 243?"

Kiwi Hunter " Because I fancy one"

FSA " Not a valid reason, sell that 243 and apply again in 6 months, also supply proof you have legally disposed of all your 6mm projectiles"

NZPOL would implement this but they would be too lazy to actually check that you have disposed of anything.

Max 100 rounds per calibre or something stupid, sure if you're a hunter that might be sufficient but sports shooters can easily burn through more than that in a session.
Then what about reloading? Can I have the components to make more ammo than I'm allowed as long as I don't actually load the ammo?
I'm in the "it's probably going to happen" camp and not looking forward to the extra bullshit.
I went through 100 rounds today at a club shoot and that wouldn't cover a days clay bird competition.

Don't underestimate the motivation of a group of senior Police a few years short of collecting their fat pensions...

Thats it. And explains why some people have a hassle free experience with the Police and the FA Authority and some don't. I like hassle free, and they like a compliance.

There is a tension there though isn't there. Compliance can mean subjugated.

Restraint is the better part of dignity. Don't justify getting even. Do not do unto others as they do unto you if it will cause harm.

    My take,

From the answers and statements made, though vague. We are going to see ammo restrictions of some sort. Id hazard a guess that they will be restrictions based on what firearms you own, and possibly some form of numbers of rounds. Or at least some sort of checkup if you exceed a certain amount.

It will suck! because there is no need for it. It's not going to have any effect on safety of anyone. Because 10 rounds is too many if ill intent is goal.

But no one is listening who wants this and likely we are going to have to comply to pointless regulation in order to keep doing what we enjoy, and find ways to do what we enjoy that work with any new rules. More trips to town. More firearms of different cals in the safe etc.

It's a bugger as you will then have no option for cheap ammo.
Those deals where you buy 5 or ten packets of centerfire, a brick or two of 22 or a slab of shotgun ammo will be gone.
    Forget the stuff on pallets.
Another pain in the dick is where you have one of those elderly moments (whatever the age lol), and you happen to forger your ammo on a trip.
You can forget your mate conveniently coming past the gun shop grabbing you a sneaky packet to keep you going.
Not on your license? Forget it.
As Thar has suggested it is subjugation.
You are deemed as fit and proper but not really.
This will be justified by the rozzers in the same way they did rego.
Stop crims. At the moment a dodgy sort may not buy a firearm for onsale to crims but he might concede to getting some ammo.
Ergo even if they concede they were telling fibbies about where crims got their firearms they can say that this is another way to stop crims with firearms

Of course there will be Ammunition Restrictions and it has nothing to do with Safety. The FSA is a Bureaucracy and the No1 aim for Bureaucrats is to keep themselves in a job. So more Rules/Regulations/Restrictions is a natural progression for said Firearms Authority. It is that simple. Look at Western Australia. That is what is coming.

I don't understand how we (Licensed firearm holders) cannot get these creeping controls kept at bay. Who's our voice on this subject.? Where are our votes going on this? It seems like none wants any of this but yet it keeps happening. Yes, I'm incredibly un-informed and may have missed something in the updates and news. I'm just puzzled.
What can we do to get a balance?
