   well I'm pleased to say my Sav 99 had a good weekend just gone. Mates son got his first goat using a Hornady 158 gr xtp over trail boss 1450 fps, did not knock him around but buggered the goat....

    Thanks, that's exactly the information i was looking for. Rifle is a rebarreled 1975 Sav 99. (was a 308) I don't feel any need to push my lever guns so normally I run them about 1 gr under book...
