    Nothing against tourist hunters.
They should have to pay comparable fees to what is required to hunt in other countries and should never be allowed into ballots.

Heaps of UK hunters for example, come here on the cheap and we can't hunt there without mortgaging a house.

Tourist hunters should be contributing financially at least.

Our rules and public land access is pathetically soft and in time if not addressed, it will ruin the realative freedom we enjoy now.

Sorry R93, but you can hunt in UK without massive expense. You just need to know people in the right places.

That's another issue entirely. You need to know someone.
You don't need to know anyone to hunt here.
If you don't know anyone you pay and pay shitloads in Scotland/Ireland where I have been. I knew people and was still expected to pay more than I could afford.
I have dealt with heaps of hunters from all around the UK. There are heaps still coming here chasing thar and chams mainly.
It is Australians that have it to easy at the moment. Cheaper for them to hunt here than it is for me to drive up and hunt sika.

And vice versa for a Kiwi visiting the motherland, it's scarry expense, unless you know someone

Make em pay. I think we need to keep the resource for kiwis. If i were to go overseas to hunt i would probably have to pay good money why should it be any different for non kiwis to hunt here.

The point I'd like to emphasise is that by these people coming here, they don't just come here and take something away from other New Zealanders by default by bagging something for the pot that a Kiwi may have got. They pay for accommodation, they pay for helis, they pay for food, they buy clothes, they buy drinks - like I said, they keep people in business.

"Clean and green". I treat that with same disdain as "100% pure".

I don't disagree but I'd argue that a hunter would spend more just by virtue of the exclusivity and remoteness (often) of the activity. Local industries (guides, heli pilots, taxidermists, etc) cater specifically for these types of people.

You don't drink Steinlager then? Yep I agree I've visted many countries, many many years older that NZ and they're are in as good a nick if not better. We are a lazy bunch of people over all, I think we lack a true pride and love for our country, not all, that's a generalisation, but like today, I pulled up at the lights and some arsehole had heavied heap of shit out of a car window onto the road, I don't compute with that, I walk a 4 k route on roads around where I live and there's rubbish all the way, someone had kicked the glass pane out of the bus stop this morning. Nobody gives a shit about NZ
