Thanks for that, wouldn't want them to get too old and out of condition. I'll send you the location, oh hell, must be the amnesia kicking in...

Great, so we have to pretty much live on, or very close to the “private” land we want to hunt on. We cant use a vehicle to take our guns etc, or to bring back any meat? So, are we to walk down the road with our rifle, and a dead beast on our back coming back? What the hell good is this for the most of us?

My understanding of what the Level 3 rules are:

You're allowed to drive to the private property where you have permission to hunt.
You can't use vehicles within that property to access the hunting area.
That is no quad bikes etc to access the back blocks.
You'll have to carry in your rifle (within the private property) and carry it out along with what you're keeping from what you've shot.

Of course I could be wrong - there's a first time for everything.

i think this is how i read it too ..... for the life of me i cant see the difference in risk between a hunter (or farmer)) on private land using a quad or ute to get to the far side of the property to hunt and a farmer on a quad going to the far side of his property to check on his herd. they look like they have set this up to placate a few duck shooters who can harvest some game meat under the new rules and so making them look inclusive to the uninformed non-hunting types out there. if i had a chunk of land that held deer or pig i would almost certainly be out there using whatever means , how can a government regulate your activity on your own land when its not an activity that has been legislated as illegal....
    its a crock of shit.
what i thought was funny was reading Stuffed article and the first sentence said something along the lines of the roar being postponed.......good on the stags for doing their bit for the covid response and deciding to social distance until the govt says its safe.......

whats not essential to some is essential to others ....if ones priorities dont fall into line with the politbeaureau directives then one becomes a rule/law breaker this is our world

although anyone who wants to tip over an animal on private land (with landowners permission) could get around the no quad rule by saying "im not hunting im doing pest control for the land owner"

Heard today Cindy say Doc tracks are closed to trampers etc. Not sure how that works so I'm assuming they mean you can hike the council tracks maybe. I don't think they know to be fair.

    Absolute bullshit.
Nothing’s changed from level 4, those with private land likely were still hunting through level 4.
90% of us still can’t hunt then.

    A little has changed.

Under Level-4 you shouldn't drive from your property to another private property to hunt.
Under Level-3 you may drive from your property to another private property to hunt with others your bubble.

You're correct at Level-4 if it is legal you may hunt on your own property.

Just heard Jacinda say that DoC land is closed to tramping.
That makes it easier to take if thats the case.

That's not what the DoC site says for Level 4 even:

Alert Level 4: Stay at home
Recreation in the outdoors must be put on hold. This means:

we have closed all DOC huts, campsites, lodges and carparks
you must not visit tracks and national parks unless they are right by your home
you must not go hunting, fishing, tramping or swimming, or do any water-based or other activities that expose you to danger or may require search and rescue services
no fires are permitted on public conservation land
you must not self-isolate at a hut, lodge or campsite
you must not light fires on pubic conservation land.
The problem with this government is they are telling lies so thick and fast they can't remember what they're actually doing.

Yeah, I heard that too, but I wonder if she is correct about that.
If so, I can't even go and put out my game cameras

Kind of weird I can't travel 30 minutes or so to hunt on public land, so would have to travel 2 to 3.5 hours to hunt private land in my region.
I wouldn't be keen on going bush with hundreds of others doing the same thing, but that will be an issue no matter what level we are allowed back on public land.
