Yep I will be, you can keep in touch with the lure on the drop by holding the line between your fingers.

    suggestions on a suitable eggbeater?

A touch out of my price range and all my other stuff is shimano.

Only reason it is shimano is when I started buying my own gear for fishing it was the only name I recognized as they make good components for bicycles

Shimano make good gear too so no dramas!

Softbait gear is like buying a scope though, generally you get what you pay for, make sure the rod is a decent grade graphite or you won't be able to feel what is going on down there.
IM6 is ok and tough but not very sensitive and IM8 is awesomely sensitive but very fragile, one mistake and you need a new rod. I like IM7 graphite as it gives good feel but is not as brittle as IM8.

20-25 pound drag not much use on 10 pound line.

Have a torium spooled with 60p for muscle work.

Yeah that reel is for a heavier setup, running 30lb braid and throwing poppers at GTs and Kingies, not really along the lines of this thread! Haha!

Bit like shooting mate. If you want to anchor an animal from range you need a bigger gun. Same with fishing. Taking 10lb line into a reef is a bit like shooting deer from 500y with a 243. Dreamin.
Accurate twin drag = fishing magnum = horse em!

And I have a Calcutta 200H sitting gathering dust if you would like a lightweight but grunty overhead to try out.
Ask a few salmon fishermen if they are any good for casting.

Thanks for the offer but my extra thumbs make casting an overhead too difficult for me.
