I got two spare spools for my softbait set for like $10 each. Spooled one with 6kg and the other with 2kg mono. The 2kg is just silly thin but surprisingly with a goid rod and light drag it gets them up

Keep us posted on how you get on Cam I'm real interested in this thread just got myself a Shimano Stradic 4000 and Shimano Nano 8-15lb rod setup for softbait, spooled it with 8lb braid, and have no clue what I'm doing with it!

I go down to a 10lb fluro leader on softbait setup. Unless you are fishing a snaggy reef or similar, it is fine. Bite rate increases quite dramatically.

I was warned off 10p by Mark at big blue, he reconed he lost too many snapper on it as they can completely swallow the lure and jig head then you are left with the trace running over its teeth...they smash up shell fish with those Jaws.
