True. We all know the media could not get its facts right if it was as simple as looking at a picture to say what you see....

Also... if the person in police custody is drunk or under the influence of drugs then they don't wanna know until that person has sobered up which is understandable.

I feel for these officers as its a real shit sandwich either way you look but police do have an obligation of care to any person in their custody but details about this incident are very vague.

There have been previous deaths with people in police custody, not to mention people who have been imprisoned as well as those admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
well as taxpayers and voters get off your arses and ask those whom come cap in hand seeking your vote one question-What is your party doing for FRONT LINE MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS..because thats what is needed-not more bloody bean counters useless bloosdy enquiries with old socialist judicial or scientists heading them.
FFS one of the "nursing academics"whose just got a gong 18months ago subscribed to a theory Psychiatric nurses were an anachronism -the new breed polyplastics could handle all .we frontliners who tutor and mentor these nurse have said for years they need more mental health experience -coincidence academic fuckknucle and his cohorts have only just reached a similar decision -the UK and aussie did yonks ago!
Community organisations are hindered largely by the fact they do not have trained experienced staff .dont get me wrong a lot of em do a bloody mighty job ,but expecting them to look after people with rapidly changing states of mind, nor trading quantity for quality of care is not the wisest thing to do (Of course bean counters and SJWs will vehemently disagree usually along lines of" what does he know hes just an old institutionalised hospital trained nurse".yes had that thrown at me a few times ...my response -their fucking ears ring noses bleed and they act like stunned mullets!!
Dont believe unions like NZNO or the PSA -they are right up jacindas clacker bigtime-thats every professional unionists ambition to ingratiate yourself with Liabor heirachy so you get a plumb job with PM of min of crown.
they are representing nurses but in a token manner and frankly in mental health despite all their earnest sighing and spluttering are about as useful as a concrete lifejacket!
the continual issue of escalating violence in psych hospitals is a classic example of the above modus operandi.
Finally+- ask your political aspirant WHY IS IT NZ TRAINED NURSES(yes the ones your taxes are used to pay for training and frontline wages) so readily head across the ditch to work.. Chances are they wont have a fucking clue ,because theyll never be any more than a yes man warming a seat in the house whilst the select few arse kissers gerrymander the economy etc and our society according to a rote gospel of socialist utopia.
examplaer -the twotooh ewe &farting cadaver handling of covid19-numerous experts saying we should be level one but these two are such concrete thinkers !
myriads of people and politicians coming out against arming of general duties police-colonel fucking coster says now way Jose Illkeep em armed until Im satisfied
If Stewart Nash had any balls hed call coster inand tell him you and your unit are answerable to the government and legislature of new Zealand Richard Cranium-not Donald fucking Trump.Furthermore our judiciary has already commented on this and its not complimentary (Justice Jillian Mallon Regina Vs Richard Lincoln Palmerston north high court "free standing pistol grips")

will it happen --"Why Ive just had a 747 Pig fly past my window and it aint even friday". Arsewipe abuses nat MPs in the house and dopey Mallard does nothing!

We all feel you pain Rushy. Hopefully normal service will soon return. I am hunkered down in rural Hawkes Bay watching the Quail running around on the lawn.

    Greetings All,
Noting the direction this thread has taken I thought it useful to relate the following. I got carted of to Hospital last week due to a bad case of vertigo and spent the night in the Acute Assessment Unit. The service I received from the staff was exemplary (the next step up from excellent). This at a time when Hospitals are normally busy to frantic. Fortunately I had recovered enough to be bundled of home the following day.
    Regards Grandpamac.

its not just psych nurses either, my MIL recently retired from nursing as fed up with the entire BS of it.
the absolute rigmarole of getting patients meds issues ( non opiodes and painkillers just general meds) were ridiculous, end of a shift and 6-8 ward nurses being asked to use the same PC for end of shift report, "cultural lessons" mandatory, being abused by a certain religious group about being tended to by a woman.
in the end it was a case of too much stress and she quit. 40 years of experience gone to the medical world @kotuku , she worked in mental health too in chch years back

i went to my psychiatrist and told him that 24 for hours of day all that was in my head was the lyrics to "delilah"
he told me it was the worst case of tom jones syndrome he had ever seen
i asked if it was common and he told me its not unusual
