Well, that's probably a poor analogy to be fair - I'd rather someone tie themselves up in the wire trap than head-on someone else. They might be a pain in the arse at times, but having cut a few out of head on prangs I reckon there's a point to those wires. Lowest common denominator and all that.

I'd still like to know how that all came up onto the radar - as one would think it wasn't due to a search of someone's house to confirm that they had everything they were supposed to. At least I've never heard of that happening before, so if you're going to do something like that which brings attention onto yourself as 'not fit and proper' you really need to question how much you value the licence to be fair.

To fully be able to view the list of firearms registered in your name you must print out the identity verification form fill it out and take it into a police station with your firearms license. This is then sent to the FSA and updated. This will give you full access and any additions afterwards are loaded or removed very soon.

I know at least 3 people that have firearms registered against them they didn't know about untill they validated their login

I had to do a transfer yesterday and I was dreading it, given the tales of being on hold or hours. Phoned at 8.30am. Done by 8.35am.

I've never had an issue just phone and they do a call back if it's going to be too long.
It's way easier to call and it's done in a few minutes.

five minutes to confirm detail of transfer as per received email....was scratching head when got email but actually, when you think about it...that's bloody clever way of doing a double check to prevent what recently went on in Timaru....... where someone SAID firearms were transferred to person X when they had in fact kept them themselves or given away to person Y.....

Emailed, but because of privacy and security reasons, they could not reply to my questions. I phoned this am and waited 10 seconds, guy was helpful. My licence is cancelled, but my renewal is still in process. Don’t know how it happened, had to check out, came back and thought human error. My licence should be fixed by the weekend so I can purchase ammo and transfer a firearm.
    All good, I hope

That's actually a little scary - for a while there you were an uncaught criminal. A criminal!

I thought I had registered my guns lol , went and brought some ammo for my .22 from hunting and fishing.
Next minute (literary was jumping into my ute seat) and my phone went ding. I checked it and hello , I had a email from the firearms people.
Bloody hell they dont muck around haha.

So Ive got to ring them as it says my account is locked. Was just amazed at the speed at which the email was sent back.

3 attempts on the same morning last week:
20 minutes, 25 minutes, 15 minutes finally got thru - and look less than 2 minutes to transfer.

2 minutes this morning at exactly 8 30 to confirm a transfer. While I had them I asked about deregistering/ destruction of a firearm as I have an older o/u shotgun with a broken hammer that's probably not worth repairing. Had a bit of a circular discussion about deactivation, surrender to police although he said most stations now won't accept them.
Ended on only the receiver is registered the other bits they're not interested in, so I could part it out barrels, stock and forewood and tell them to delete shotgun and recategorize it as a essential part, have it chromed and use it as a paperweight.
They do have some helpful knowledgeable people on staff

Yip done the same on the 8th aswell. 2 transfers and 1 from a dealer. Job done in a few minutes. Bloody good huh!
So today i phone up to transfer a rifle i sold last week. Decided to check that everything still in order. Big fucking surprise. Non of the 3 i register over the phone on the 8th on my name. Had to call again. Been on hold for a long time. Give up and register online. Will call again tomorrow to check. Never happen before so now i start to question the process aswell.

Half hour this morning, most of that listening to horrid elevator chimes, got through so could transfer two firearms over to another person.... Slight hiccup as they had me down as two rifles with identical serial numbers registered in my name.clerical error for sure and easily sorted....just weird to find out been wrong for two months.
