In my opinion the issues that we have with registering firearms has very little to do with money and is mostly to do about people. I would suggest that the registry section of the Firearms Safety Authority suffers hugely from a high staff turnover/ retention issue which in turn creates a lack of training and knowledge issue with the people that we deal with when we ring in. Think about it for a moment. The people there are performing a call centre operator function and all day long they are dealing with resentful cranky old pricks like Maca and I telling them that they don’t know sweet fuck all about the firearms we have and we are not going to accept them calling it something different that we think will bite us in the arse at some point in the future. Who in their right mind would want that job beyond their first encounter with an aggrieved abusive (old) bugger like us two?
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

If this people want to achieve their very very important goal, they need to offer a great service, not modelled on Spark or Contact Energy.
They need fast service, cheerful phone people with a bloody good knowledge of the product,
Mate the need the likes of you and I on the phone, really helpful bastards with a great depth on knowledge, not only in firearms, but relationships! Now piss off back to your holiday

As a retired person, at 8:30am I’m still asleep or having sex! Or just dreaming of my younger days

Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!
Mate, to find it, I have to start pissing and follow up stream, like a trout. Still, better than having to insert a catheter every time, like a friend of mine does. Oh the joys of getting old

Were you asked "are your firearms loaded" neighbor did a rego last week and was asked. Queried the question after stating 'NO", team member said they had been told to ask. Can only wonder the fallout if you answered YES.

After a two hour wait yesterday morning, I had to retrieve a shotty from the safe in order to check a serial number. On my way to the safe, the pleasant sounding dude reminded me to, 'take your time and not to shoot yourself'. Very thoughtful indeed, as I had no idea that they had our preservation in mind.
