    Agree.

Maybe its time to take a swallow on H&F stores and support them again (for those who say they won't support them). Or will peoples' principles get in the way of "support NZ" to keep local businesses going?

Going forward I will support NZ businesses (I have been a big off shore shopper in the past). But I will be cutting my spending too.

We have Stacey @ Hamills here in Tauranga, always a pleasant gut to deal with and does a great deal every time. Young guy building his future, those are the guys to deal with. H&F are just another big store, trying to swallow or stiffle their rivals. I deal with the H&F store for ammo if down there and always browse their used selection. The guy in that dept has the dealers license, very knowledgeable.

The value of the NZD has sort of cut that one out for me.

It will be a bastard when NO local dealers exist, because you decided to support all the overseas countries in the world. Wait till then, when you canopy purchase a firearm or ammo locally and government decides to close the boarder to ALL related goods!! Support local and stop being a Scrooge

Ive always thought like that too. Maybe we will shop around a bit more here for the best price. The most expensive will miss out.

I try to buy kiwi made as much as I can, my general rule is they get my custom once depending on their service, attitude etc will be the decider if I go back. Small town shops are normally good, they normally know their stuff and are good to deal with. However with hnf and Swazis attitude towards the “buy back” I don’t think I’ll buy off them again. That’s a shame as, Swazi make good gear, my local hnf is full of people who have no clue what they are selling. My last visit I had one of their young females telling me that jet boil don’t make the small canisters that fit in the cooker, despite me telling her they do she kept telling me they didn’t needless to say I walked out and haven’t been back since

I can honestly say I have not set foot(yet, still bloody hoping not to ever) in a humping and fisting store. Kinda sucks cos I like the Huntech gear and they are the ‘exclusive’ dealers of it.

My main purchases (hunting wise) is ammo and I’m lucky to have five outlets in a reasonable proximity. They’ll get my money unless it’s a real specialised product and they can’t order it for me.

I do feel though there will be a shortage of cash out there after lockdown. She’s gona be tough for a lot of people..:.

I've always been interested in where things are made, so checking country of manufacture's generally a matter of course.

Where possible, I buy local for the simple reason to keep those skills and jobs here - in New Zealand. I will certainly adopt an increased aversion to purchasing Chinese products but realise it'll be impossible to avoid completely until the existing shift of manufacturing jobs from China to other countries (e.g. Vietnam, Thailand, India, Bangladesh) gathers pace.

I certainly hope the world learns the lesson that being beholden to an authoritarian regime is not a viable long-term strategy.

How true, I’m going to be honest, I always shop around locally for the best deal or even here, but when an outlet like H&F sends a very clear message to aspects of it it potential consumer base the way they did, I don’t forget, if that means they experience financial stress or whatever then that to me is karma, I will spend a little more at local stores or small businesses that didn’t throw me under a bus, my way of supporting those who supported us
