You're over-thinking what is required during the renewal process.
Your security arrangement will be checked - is it secured to the structure, etc. That is all.
They can ask, but it is not in their gambit to check the contents of your secure storage.

The guy doing my interview had zero interest in my guns, I opened the safe so he could see the screws but he didn’t take any notice of the guns themselves. Didn’t mention the register or anything like that either. He was great to deal with.

I had the similar experience. Social media stuff like this thread, brings in the "Conspiracists'" They are allowed their freedom of speech. Each to his own.... BUT ferk it play's trick with my thinking at times...I almost agree that there is a conspiracy. Damaging my commonsense.
Mine took not more than a month. The Tauranga arms office were great to deal with and I thought it would be some time based on what I have read but it just turned up in the post last week.
Apart from all the form filling it was a very straight forward process.
Anyone put a renewal i, in Hamilton lately? I put mine about 2 weeks ago i think.
If you can't kill it with bullets, dont f*ck with it.
Applied for mine back mid May. Confirmation email a couple of days later and an email a month ago saying my application had been forwarded to district vetting officer. That's it so far
I put mine in last month, got an email acknowledging my renewal application on 8/6, haven’t heard anything since.
Anyone get their license for the first time in Chch? I have finished my vetting around two weeks ago and am curious how long the wait will be for the licence to arrive. I swear this is the hardest part![]()
I started my first FAL application on the 16th of Aug, think it's time to hurry up and wait.
Hurry slowly.
Patience, Grass-hopper![]()
I put my application in at the end of March, I have an interview scheduled for the middle of September, my licence expired on the 3rd of August, don't be in a rush.
Every district is different, I submitted my renewal late June, at the four week mark I got an email saying my application was being sent to district for vetting, very quickly all my referees were vetted by phone, my security check, refresher test and interview lasted 25 minutes. Vetter advised me that my application was supported and would be put through that afternoon.
Next day got an email with a attached letter from NZP saying my new license would be sent in 4-6 weeks. The whole process was very good for an organization under a lot of pressure.![]()
I'm three months in and still heard nothing.checked up...it's with CHCH office.
75/15/10 black powder matters
Your licence didn't actually expire.
Clearly, your application is being processed.
Because of the debacle created by the new legislation and the attendant backlog of applications, the "rules" were changed such that if you applied for a licence renewal before the expiry of the current one (even on the day before), your licence is still deemed to be valid, unless the application for renewal is rejected/denied.
