Well here's some advice for when any of you get an email from them about guns they just don't know about and can't find a label for.
I had a number of my rifles queried recently.
FSA wanted full length images, action images and serial number images.
I supplied everything they required.
They came back ( after a quick google image search I think ) suggesting what Make, Model and caliber they wanted them to be registered as.
Makes, models and calibers they suggested they would prefer were all different from the correct ones I had supplied.
When they phoned to follow up why I hadn't responded to their email I told them I frankly didn't know what to say because they were suggesting that I have incorrect information on my registration.
I asked him to look down all the items in my registration and tell me how many Makes and Models he recognised immediately ?
His response amounted to 4% of my total registered items.
So my next question to him was " do you think it is an accident that I have so many guns you don't recognise ? Or do you think I might be a collector of less common guns ?"
Ultimately he accepted that I clearly knew the Make, Model and Caliber of those rifles because I owned them and had brought them primarily because they were not your average rifle !
It was a very irritating exercise in futility.
Photographs, emails, phone calls and what has ended up on my registration is exactly what I had originally entered.
Sounds like just another day in futile discussions with our local district council!!!:XD:
Surprised to find that change of firearm registration between registered owners must be completed by phone, thought a online system would be more appropriate.
Try telling an "Engineer" from Aecom that the photo you are both looking at showing 20mm bolts are 20mm bolts and not 12mm bolts
I find it quite impressive how many levels down I have to regress towards explaining it like the other person is a 5 year old, and I'm not that bright to start with
I registered a firearm ex dealer last week, he hadn't done his bit even though trans-action happened previous week. I had to do it over the phone due to caliber not being on the Registry list even though it showed on the manufacturers. The operator placed it on my registration list without knowing where it was purchased. Can see a system that is due to have great holes to fill.
I brought a firearm last week, completed mail form on the Monday. Seller was emailed on the Tuesday given the all ok.
I haven't heard a thing about mail order or about register.
I am looking to buy a new rifle, the first 'new' one in quite some time. I understand this will trigger the registration process. As I have a few old bits and pieces that have no serial numbers, does anyone know how long I have to get them numbered? It looks to me like I would have 30 days?
Yes that's my understanding also
Has anyone registered a Blaser and different barrels for them? I have one chassis & a few different barrels, Do you register each barrel?
That’s a good question @outdoorlad there doesn’t seem to be an option of registering barrels. My new K95 barrel is nearly here so I will give them a ring to find out what the go is.
So Ive got quite a bit of stuff Im thinking of selling. Do I have to register a firearm before selling it or register the exsisting firearms I have left?
My mileage was different. A brno zh 200 switch barrel with 3 barrel sets, they only wanted the actions number and weren't interested in the barrels although they are all serialised different to the receiver. On asking I was told they weren't considered a critical part
Depends if the stuff you to sell needs to be registered
Some of the stuff is firearms. So at this stage do I need to register it before selling it or does that kick in when the new owner buys it and I register what I have left? Or sell the lot in one lot...
Cool cheers so It has to be registered at my end before I sell it
Cool thank you
More reason to get registered - From the FSA website, just 7 months away now:
"The first time you purchase ammunition after 24 June 2025, you must provide information for the Registry within 30 days.
You will not need to register the ammunition itself."
For those with a reluctance to register and those that are just hell bound to leave it til the last minute, all they need do is anticipate their next three years worth of ammunition usage and purchase it prior to the the trigger date.
Just looking at the 'help pages' and
Identification markings (serial numbers)
You cannot register an arms item online if it:
* has no identification marking, such as a serial number, or
* has one that uses characters other than A-Z, 0-9, slashes and dashes.
Now I have a TOZ that looks to be from 66/67 going by the cyrillic stamp of "Г" as part of the serial number.
When I get to registering it do I just use the nnnn of the Гnnnn?
I'd hate to have to restamp it
My first rifle was a 22 Toz, it had a "backwards" R in the serial number which really threw the policeman at the arms office into a spin with his typewriter....."hey Boss how the hell to I enter this serial number " :)
That was 42 years ago now, everything was registered....until they decided it was a waste of time, effort & money.....history repeats they reckon........
Yes. I am about to renew my "life time" license for the 4th? time....
That's what I have done.
Bought enough smallbore ammunition for 4+ years and I reload my fullbore ammunition.
I have enough primers for at least 2 years, powder for 2, projectiles for 3+ years.
I don't need to purchase anything and don't intend to register until nearly the last minute.
Recent events have shown that sworn police officers can't be trusted with registry information so mine stays out of the registry for now.
So we don't have to register??? At least not yet?? I'm so confused with it.. and I really don't want to do it.
Perfect thanks.. I'm just going to keep ignoring the emails then. They called me today to but didn't recognize the caller, so didn't pickup.
Depends on WHY you are getting emails in first place...
