I've toyed with the idea but stuck with .22LR since I'm typically close <100m and I like subsonics with suppressor.

I've always found it tough to get in a good amount of practice with centerfire... but if you can shoot a good break barrel air rifle (or a .22) well, you will have the fundamentals of marksmanship. ...
I picked up my xmas pressie but unfortunately no chance to shoot yet.
It's a 6.5 Grendel with the carbon tensioned 12.5" barrel + DPT, topped with a 1-8x Nikko Stirling Octa.
The chassis alone...
Thanks - I didn't get that email.
Will be collecting it on Friday so all good and thanks.
I was actually wondering the same thing... I ordered (and paid) for my Elude + barrelled Grendel action at the end of November and haven't had any email replies to a status update since I'm heading...
That's actually pretty awesome... I'd even buy the pistol one if it was in stock, and set it up on an airsoft!
This approach sounds ok with me... I know a lot of folks like shiny brass :)
This sounds like a reasonable system as I'm living in an apartment so having a tumbler going for hours is less ideal! ...
If you just polish the outside, what about the inside of the case?
Does cleaning/polishing the outside of the case have practical impact on accuracy? I understand cleaning the primer pocket is...
I'm going through the process of a reloading setup. Trying to understand brass cleaning... does everyone use a vibratory / rotary tumbler (corn cob or steel pin)?
Is there is less expensive thing...
In the situations you describe, it can be a .22 springer too. I have a nicely tuned HW95 thats putting out about 15 ft/lb and will do rabbits to 30 meters. Most of the PCPs you are talking about...
An ethical shot to me is knowing within the limits of your marksmanship skill (at distance, in real world conditions) and gear (rifle, optics and ammo combo) that will make a clean killing shot...
Heh yeah the Micro is pretty tiny - US hunters wanted small for shooting from blinds. But to get small, Excalibur shortened power stroke and make the limbs smaller = to get similar speeds to their...
The Eley Tenex (and similar like Lapua Center X) is top shelf match grade stuff used to shoot in the Olympics and win medals... designed to be highly consistent.
If you are seeking the smallest...
I listed these for sale - but I reckon you all might like to see some very nice crossbows made by Excalibur in Canada. They specialise in recurves - practically no moving parts so great for hard...
What kind of cycling issues are you having? Poor feeding from the mag?
I've been eying the semi auto cousin Bergara BXR but that uses the rotary style mag.
All good points - yes range finders coupled with knowing your dope have definitely made an impact. I have to give NZ bow hunters a lot of credit... if it's not 40m or in with a compound/crossbow,...
With the advances in optics, ballistics, bipods/tripods and overall rifle accuracy - is it true that hunters are taking shots at game at greater distances than before (say before year 2000.)
Or is...
It's in Auckland, but Youngsairgun.co.nz is my usual place for parts and he has the common stuff in stock.
If you are handy, there is a ton of info online for tuning Gamos. The biggest challenge...
I've always like porro prisms in general since you get good optics but more bulk - Steiner one of the few makers of high quality porro. Their lower lines like the 8x30 Military Marine as still made...
I think you're largely correct on the MTR. Unless you planned to feed your MTR match grade ammo (i.e. the really expensive stuff like Elex Tenex, Lapua Center X) the match chamber isn't worth it. ...
I have the Leopold Yosemite 8x30 porro - and they're actually a great bang for the $. I have the new Nikon Monarch M7 8x30 and the Nikon has a much wider fielder of view and compact, but optically...
Most of us like flash gear as much as the next person, but usually it's the nut behind the trigger as you have demonstrated. I'd love a custom action in a MDT chassis with a Nightforce scope but...
I'm confident with compass and map and would never have GPS as the sole navigation - just wanting to take advantage of things like breadcrumbs and waypoints. And reducing those moments of being...
Outside of the car navigation or Google Maps, I've never owned an "outdoor" GPS device. I have a couple of questions which I've always wondered:
1. Automatic route marking - as I walk do GPS...
Actually my CZ457 MTR is in a Boyds AT-One stock that I purchased separately at the time. I don't think Match chamber is needed as generally speaking the CZ 457 shoot well when torqued properly. ...
