I admire his passion and his huge strength and drive , but that’s a real worry for me , that’s a long way out. In a very unforgiving ocean!
All power to Tasman , he makes fantastic content… but I’m a dad and that kind of thing worriers me a lot to be honest.

Don't laugh, a while back a YouTuber Kerry Flowers caught a marlin in a kayak... successfully, had to get a boat to help once he'd got the leader. But still what an effort!
Kerry was the first I believe. I kayak fished with Kerry many years back. Solid bloke. Greg Potter has caught marlin, yellowfin and hapuka from a kayak. Bloody impressive.
First real attempt at fishing with the “new” boat. Took a local “silver gurnard” guide…aka spiny dogfish expert @ROKTOY.
Boat kicks arse, cruises at 20-25kt easy, top speed 37kt, stable as, can deploy 8 rods, room to fish 5 or 6, captain has no clue and must get his shit together but baby steps for the sissy merican :/
Was really hoping today would be a scouting trip with a pile of Kahawai mixed in but no dice on the NZ Salmon.
4hr
8 spiny dogs
1 baby Kahawai
1 barracouta
1 gurnard in a giant chilly bin

It a tough time to chase fish in the top of the south, shit fish everywhere ..maybe we should go for a flat fish hunt!
Spring is a few days away then the big fat pre spawn snappers will roll in and tough days become a memory!
Heard that snapper have turned up over in Golden Bay ….going by our local history they start over the other side and slide into Mapua side of Tasman Bay then October they find the way across the bay , November goes full throttle, December they spawn and go slabby and off the bite ..then then the tucker turns up and the snapper , kings and everything go on the feed

Speaking as someone who doesn't know your fishery, I would ditch the bait to avoid those spiny dogfish.
MB ..we have tried that also …yes it slows them down , but to our horror when they are thick on the chew the barstard things will eat anything, the past weekend
I had one on the American imports set up, 6 of the buggers followed their mate from 30 meters to the surface..
Some days you just can’t win.
