Boat kicks arse, cruises at 20-25kt easy, top speed 37kt, stable as, can deploy 8 rods, room to fish 5 or 6, captain has no clue and must get his shit together but baby steps for the sissy merican :/
Was really hoping today would be a scouting trip with a pile of Kahawai mixed in but no dice on the NZ Salmon.
    4hr
    8 spiny dogs
    1 baby Kahawai
    1 barracouta
1 gurnard in a giant chilly bin

Don't worry I caught nothing off the Pohara wharf in 4 hours except a suntan.

Yep have heard all you catch in Nelson in winter is spiky dogs, so I didn't miss anything over there @Joe Schmo

Heard that snapper have turned up over in Golden Bay ….going by our local history they start over the other side and slide into Mapua side of Tasman Bay then October they find the way across the bay , November goes full throttle, December they spawn and go slabby and off the bite ..then then the tucker turns up and the snapper , kings and everything go on the feed
I'm in for a flounder bash if a weekday @stingray

Nobody pays attention when I say Facebook/youtube/Instagram have ruined almost every great hunt/fishery I’ve ever known…hopefully you never know what I mean.

Not wrong, constant need to share and 1 up. I was guilty, have stopped sharing completely now. Keep it to who was there

I guess that would shut down a lot of the threads on this forum.

What Boat did you end up with Joe Schmo?

Ah the good ole Southern Sailfish strikes again, caught a few of those myself when i was living down that way. Kapiti Coast Snapper are been caught so assume they are moving inshore and down into the bay.

    Cheers FBD

    Give it time …

    a fat bald barstard waits
    …and watch’s
    ….stalks his next victim
    …slowly edges foward
…..the snapper season is getting close
…the boat owner lures quietly catching gurnard and Kahawai…

The snapper start to run , the lure fisherman is in dismay as others slay the spring snapper .

.the bald barstard pounces brings burley , pilchards and squid onto the boat , they slay the snaps and the lure fisherman is never the same again

hiding his addiction for bait and burley from family and friends …spending crazy $$ at the local petrol station to purchase bait and burley !

A terrible story I see repeated many times…help out a fellow lure fisherman…get him onto a good solid supplier of burley and bait and save a good man from himself
    Nil durum volenti !!

Lol, I have a mate that must go fishing with bait and burley.

    I do both, ....

We eat a lot of whole prawns, so I blitz the heads and
shells , throw some bait in. Add a few rolled oats and some cooking oil. And anything else thats kind of fishy. Sometimes i buy the fish oil and add some of that, or a while ago a asian shop had tins of fish for 50 cents, so a few of those went in a couple of blocks. Throw it in a ice cream container and freeze.

    They seem to work ok.
Please excuse spelling, as finger speed is sometimes behind brain spped........ Or maybe the other wayy.....
