Started work early with the plan for a early knock....pick up Joe and off we go.
First dive is always shit for me.....I've got to get my gear on ....have a few shit dives then get back in the boat rest up and have another go then Im good.
Got that one out of the way the dropped Joe on a mark.....a few smalls but nothing worth attacking.
Spot two a few keepers and spot 3 a few more.
I got.in for a swim.again but being high tide and my first dive back all.I found were some . Moki and cod.
Bloody good to get out and have a swim....
It's been a bloody long month of work and still have a bit to go.
    Dam good to.get out!.

Thanks VC without your knowledge and low down cunning it would have being a cluster f#*k ..but you brought it home , landed me on the crays and the vis .

Lisa’s family say thank you , and have a box of beer sitting here “just for Cam” ! ..

Thanks VC let’s get a team together and go full send to okiwi ..kingis , crays , cod , snapper , mussels ….and evenings of yarns and stories .

Let’s put a date on it and go full send

Crays were tough today, sectchy , half way back when you saw them ,
then when you went for a swing at them they were a couple of feet deeper into their hole,

Here’s our problem which is wonderful but a curse at the same time is the shorts , the cracks and holes and over hangs all have a good crays but now they have shorts out the front on the roof on the sides , these are from 3 inch to just undersize crays which sit on the outside of the fishing spot , now I have to work past these little barstards that freak out hit the keeper and everyone vanishes into the cave ..then I’m looking at a nothing but feelers ..bloody fantastic.

But hows is a man to get a keeper ..managed it today , plucked victims from outside the nest , and the odd fool the sat still whilst everyone else buggered of ..
Blue water is back in the Tasman Bay along with a wonder selection of summer fish , the Blue Moi moi , koheru 6 inch’s

Strangest thing I saw way a carpet shark / gumboot in a cray hole , they were laying side by side , the cray touching the shark …now I thought these gumboots were cray eaters through and through but this pair were in a small overhang side by side the shark asleep and the cray on full alert ..left the to their selves ..interesting co habitation

Finally got a day with light winds yesterday so headed out front - sister and Aussie brother in law over for Xmas so was keen to get them on to a few fish. Further out we went the better the conditions got and once we got past Harding Point I said righto we could waterski out here shall we head to D’Urville west side for a few cod? Only 30 minutes from there and Rod had never been up to Stephen’s passage so was dead keen to have a crack. So got up through the passage around 8.40am 1 hour 15 to get up there and around to the west side - it’s a rugged looking piece of country up there !

Quite a decent westerly roll coming in making conditions pretty sloppy went and fished around a couple of massive slabs of rock with shear faces jutting out of the blue water. Drifting about Rod got 4 Ali a couple and my son Chris a couple too.

Back through the passage decided to got back to our snapper spot near the Chetwoods on the way back spotted kahawai schooling on the surface and picked up 3 nice big ones for smoking and sashimi.

Arrived at the snapper spot where one our neighbours was fishing but had no luck so far. We got started fishing and saw neighbour battling a big fish but it turned out to be pretty decent shark.

Fishing was very slow we got a 62cm and 50cm snapper and 4 gurnard over 4 hours of fishing. Decided to call it a day at 2 and headed back in for the carve and clean up plus fish for dinner. Nice for my 88yo mum to have a feed of cod before she goes home.

Southerly wind came in at 7 right when windy said it would - temp plummeting to 15 this morning heading to 13 tomorrow- my Queensland based rellies are freezing south winds gusting to 100kph with us to Wednesday night. Southerly wind brings sloppy conditions into our bay so getting mum on the boat safely tomorrow is a challenge I am not looking forward too.

Yuck gusting to 100kph and we wear the southerly swells straight on to the jetty making loading the boat bloody difficult.
    Going in tomorrow now.

Good idea. We have just come home from the bay. Didn't manage to get the ski out. How long are you at the Bach?

It’s calming down a bit now as predicted but not enough to get Mum on board safely @ her age.

Road from Okiwi to Nelson is a shambles trees down etc. I’m sure the gangs are full swing trying to sort it , but there’s a lot of trees and roads throughout the sounds so may pay to check before travelling.
