Quick note on runtimes for the little single 18650 battery HO1R headlamp on white beam. Jock (Perazzi) this is for you - and others:

    Turbo mode - 1000 lumens = 100 minutes
    High mode - 430 lumens = 5 hours
    Medium mode - 160 lumens = 13 hours 40 minutes
    Low mode - 5 lumens = 73 hours

For normal camp/walking mode you'd be using medium (160Lumens) - so alot of hours on one batt. (Many of the wee headlamps these days like Led Lenser only run to say 220 lumens tops - plenty for camper.)
With this HO1R make sure you screw on end caps firmly for contact. Set to make contact in last bit of twist - which means you can loosen batt cap to stop lights coming on easily when in pack.
And remember when charging with usb plugin, red light means charging, blue means charged. When batt low, the front red lights will start blinking.

Consignment of new Maxtoch M1 Archers arrived today - have sent PMs to all who expressed interest.

Very pleased with this little design - has taken time to get it just right. Testing them all out today.. VERY small but packs alot of punch with 575m medium beam, and 770-800m High. This is 2-4 times similar size led lensers at fraction of price. New tech SST40 led and 1650 lumens.

Just remember this will not compete with 2X, XPro, but it will be ideal on the 22, for possums etc. Wee light holds High for timed 3 minutes then steps down to medium at 575m max. Price for wee M1 Archer kit with carry case, holster, lanyard, spares etc is $110 delivered:

Brian (gadgetman) and I looking over the new baby Maxtoch M1 Archer today. Both very impressed with it - Maxtoch have done a great job. Very well made little bit of kit. I added one to my gear immediately, and he will grab one too. Little wee thing but sure packs a punch - considerably more output than original full size Maxtoch SNs of few years ago...

Out for walk this evening with M1 and can confirm its low mode has plenty of power too, ideal for possums and game at shorter range.

OK, send me some bank details via PM. I don't need the torch immediately. Cheers.

Alot of lights going out round the country - will be really good to get some comments and feedback on the 2X, Xpro, HO1R, new M1 Archer etc...

    Thanks Mike

And just remember with the wee M1 Archer - it is a single cell torch and will have half runtime of the bigger two cell Maxtochs. Expect 45-50+ minutes for each battery on continuous use - which of course never happens as we're always stopping to reload, open gates, brag, grab a coffee etc..

Yeah that's what I've found with my Archer. Definitely less run time than the 2x but such a handy size and I have been using it a bit more than the 2x
More than enough light for walking around on the lowest setting.

I would be interested in a head torch that has no battery pack at the rear of the headband and simply turns on and off, no other stupid functions. Currently I am using SEO5's at work and they break especially the battery clips (daily battery changes), I am on my 3rd for the year. Battery packs on rear are a pain working in very confined spaces they catch and the whole lot gets pulled off you head.
Looking for something like them with a 6-7 hour run time / reasonably bright, does not have to be super bright it it matched the SEO5 that would work.

The H0iR would be ideal for you. It does have 4 modes, but the memory system on it is very well behaved. It is good for what you are after. Low modes are great for confined spaces and the brighter modes good for getting to those spaces and for looking into dark holes when there is a fair bit of ambient light around you.
