Gave my new HO1R a go last night, really good light output including the red mode and very comfortable to wear

Didn't manage a walk tonight, but flicked the M1 Archer around off my deck. Neighbors sheep and horse about 100m away plain as day, even on the middle setting very clear. Looking forward to giving it a real work out.

McNotty just asked a question about Led Lenser lights - how do they compare with Maxtochs? Here are some numbers (and normal prices):
Led Lenser P.7R, range 200 meters, weight 212gms, length 158mm, price $249
Led Lenser P14.2, range 270m, weight 350gms, length 197mm, price $189
Led Lenser P17, range 450m, weight 785gms, length 312mm, price $184
Led Lenser MT18, range 540m, weight 620gms, length 171mm, Price $399
Led Lenser X21.R2, range 700m, weight 1.420kgs, length 406mm, price $750-990
Hmmm... now let's compare just the baby Maxtoch - never mind its big brothers:
Maxtoch M1 Archer, range 800m, weight 185gms (incl batt), length 135mm, price $110
Got the picture ??![]()
Didn’t have much time at home but did give the tiny M1 a quick shine around. It’s a hell of a light for something so small. Very impressive. Well done.
@mudgripz Haha thanks for that Mike. Don’t worry, was well aware they’re a superior light. Good to have the info to tell anyone else how much of a better light they’d be getting with a Maxtoch.
If you have any H01 headlights left, flick me a price and I’ll put money in to same account. No batteries needed. Will PM number as well.
All good Scott..
A quick thought - the little M1 Archer is a very grunty wee light but it is not intended as replacement for the more powerful M24, 2X, XPro spotlights.
Its design is more to medium range, eg as a 22 mounted light. Yes it has ANSI (the American and global standard for measuring light range) max range of 800m down to equivalent full moonlight on target, but its effective big animal spotting is more like half of that. It will run at 800m output until timer clicks it down to 3/4 power (550-600m) after 3 minutes. Still ideal for the medium range role. But the bigger lights continue to run at max output (no stepdowns), with double and more that 550-600m distance, and a great deal more light on target past 100m.
Yes you can try an M1 Archer as your main spottie, and if you've been using an equivalent size led lenser etc, the M1 will be a vast improvement. But its not the long range spottie its big brothers are - it fulfils a slightly different design role![]()
Maxtoch don't sell the plastic cases - I use either a very small plastic bag, or some of these if I've got them - and keep them in torch carry case:

He nui to ngaromanga, he iti to putanga.
You depart with mighty boasts, but you come back having done little.
Sounds like a typical hunting trip !
Best scope mount available in NZ for M1 Archer guys?..........I like cheap, if it works. Thanks in advance
Hey Mcnotty, i use one of these with my old ledlensers, super cheap and has worked really well for me, fast and easy to setup, i cant find it to try the M1Archer for size but it looks like it will fit no worries. https://us.seriouscountrysports.com/...oaAj5REALw_wcB
M1 Archer arrived in the post today Mudgripz, really impressed with it, excellent little light and is leagues above the ledlensers i have. Thanks heaps!
For the Maxtochs we've picked a 2 piece mount set. One is a little picatinny rail that fits onto scope - and remains there. The other piece is a tall ring that fits round torch, and has a quick release connect at bottom for clicking onto scope rail. On or off in 2 seconds, but importantly its very stable when on - can't be knocked off. The set is $20 with an order...
Glad to hear you're enjoying the wee M1s - certainly an over-achieverWill take mine for more research (play) tonight too...
M1 has arrived. Thanks again Mike. Can't wait to try it out.
