2nd one looks usefull.....things of beauty my good man...keep up the great work.
Thank you, the second one is a damasteel stainless powered super steel and is a gift for my hunting buddy and bro in law, sent out on Friday, I’ve got 2 hard core hunters and myself testing 3 of my designs and they are all performing beyond my expectations, my chefs knives sell well as there are far more cooks than hunters in NZ lol, my daggers are play things, as it’s a hard one to make. cheers.
With that steel around 450 including sheath cheaper in carbon steel at around 350.
thats a great offer there my good man......to you knife making fellas, back when I was a hairy arsed schoolboy working on dairy farm just out of Hamilton, the farm owner used to get sawdust/shavings for his stables ...really flash type shavings...from the guys that make COFFINS,bet they have some awesome offcuts just going begging........
Here’s one I finished today, I spent bugger all time on finishing it as it’s mine, steel is clay hardened 1095, for a small blade I managed to get a nice Hamon line.

now that one looks really functional, love the shape of the handle...no chance of slipping onto blade at all.

I was ordering some stuff off Aliexpress and spotted a low cost knife blank https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hand...311.0.0.j7TXhI
Although it says its Damascus, its actually just embossed plain carbon steel, but at NZ$20 they are cheap enough for a play.
Had a scrubby stag head in the shed so lopped one of the tines off that had a diameter that matched the bolster on the knife, drilled a hole up the tine and glued it in place.

Sure did, it’s been tested a lot this week, it’s good at pretty much everything regarding field dressing so I’ll be making a lot of these now.

whats the steel on the chef blade
It is a stainless 31 layer total steel with a super gold 2 or SG2 super steel core, very good steel and very expensive, this knife is sold and was 1100. I also made from the off cut a jack which is also sold....

So I thought I’d do a quick $10 review on a knife that has arrived this afternoon all the way from sunny NZ from forum member Nga.
First impressions are way better than I figured via the pictures received.
The knife handle is super with a skinny handle (was asked) and good feel, feels safe in the hand.
The blade looks to be very well finished and for a manual job it looks very tidy. The D2 steel has a real shine and this one holds a bloody impressive edge, is hollow ground and is thin 3mm which makes for imo a suitable tool for the field, dressing and skinning animals.
Heading out tomorrow (with knife) [emoji4]so another $5 review to follow along with some pics of a real stag...
Great job Nga[emoji106]
