Nice. The C-tec is grippy and durable. Elmax is a great steel for holding its edge. Don't be tempted to take to it with a stone and thin it down too much or it will chip. The convex edge doesn't need to be thin to cut.

Incredible craftsmanship John. How long have you been plying the trade?
been at it 23 years now rushy and im still addicted
Hey John is that damasteel or some other variation? Looks stunning.
hi shelley just plain old l6 and o1 Damascus cheers john
ps did your knives arrive back
Yeah mate, thanks for the feedback, made myself a 2 x 72 inch belt sander now, so that's made some things a bit easier, been getting lots of different belts and learning their characteristics, now need a drill press and a scroll saw.
Someone gave me a polisher but I am a bit nervous, seems like an easy way to stick a pointy knife somewhere I do not want it.
I have been going through and thinning down some handles and you are right, much more comfortable.
Did you make that Damascus yourself or buy it from someone, all the Damascus I have looked at seems to cost an arm and a leg.
hi shelly yep pretty much the last of my home made stuff maybe one more bit laying around.drill press is a must even the 100 dollar ones from bunnings are good i used one for years still got it.whats the scroll saw for a metal cutting bandsaw is better.got a pick of your grinder would love to see it
cheers john
Treated myself. Wanted to add another Ripi Knife to my set. ( have a nice drop point, skinner and now this(bird and trout??)) Thanks for a great knife @john worthington. Steel is N690 SS, cant remember the handle but Australian made with some Auz timber and epoxy resin stuff. Not to sure on the sheath though lol. Damn thing arrived while wife was here so it now becomes a Xmas present . Got to wait until after Xmas to use it [emoji22]

Looks like some other nice little options in the process, look forward to seeing the results Shelley.

Top leather work Hntmad. You deserve to be supported because it is real world standard craftsmanship.
Thanks @Tahr, appreciate your endorsement

I've noticed when I buy the odd knife from America, like I do, the sheath leather is getting thinner and the stitching lighter. A sharp decline in quality.
Did the same to my Svord (circa 1990). Reshaped the blade and added a black Maire handle.

Southern ruahines?
Here are a couple of processing knives I have collected just recently.
Top is a 12" blade Sashimi knife, middle is a 10" forged clip steel blade chefs knife and bottom is an 8" Damascus bread knife.
Attachment 65152
Interesting variation and collection.
Love that bread knife
Just got my new knife. John Worthington crafted in @craigc pattern. Custom leather HGD sheath. Beautiful workmanship and quality.

@Dorkus damn thats sexy.... Makes me want one but need to behave, maybe if I sell something I can earn brownie points to buy new things
Dorkus, what steel is the blade? Nice bit of kit.
It's a great steel. Keeps an edge and not difficult to sharpen. Nice balance.
